Indonesian Modesty Plate on Leather
A rare early 20th c. child’s silver heart-shaped modesty plate - “caping”. Bugis People, S. Sulawesi, Indonesia. Plates like these were used as substitutes for clothing for little boys and girls, worn attached to a string or chain around the child’s hips. On leather with antique silver tribal beads from India.
